About this Calculator
Roofing material quantities depend on both footprint area and roof pitch — steeper roofs have more actual surface area than their footprint suggests. Enter your building footprint, roof pitch (rise over run), and number of roof sections to get total roof area in square feet and roofing squares (100 sq ft). The calculator then converts to shingle bundles needed, including a 10–15% waste factor and ridge cap materials.
